Remedial Massage & Myotherapy

What is Remedial Massage?

Remedial massage is the use of various modalities (deep tissue, sports, trigger point therapy, relaxation, cupping) with a purpose of pain management of acute or chronic musculoskeletal (muscles, tendons, ligaments, connective tissue), postural, sporting and occupational conditions or injuries.

A typical massage session involves a client history and intake, and assessment to determine the client’s health status.

The focus of the treatment is to reduce or eliminate pain and restore function of stability and mobility.

What is a Myotherapist?

A Myotherapist is a health practitioner specialising in evidence based assessment, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain management (muscles, tendons, ligaments, connective tissue), postural, sporting and occupational conditions or injuries.

In addition to various modalities (Deep tissue, sports, remedial, trigger point therapy), treatment can include: Myofascial dry needling, corrective exercises, electrical stimulation (TENS).

What is Myofascial dry needling (MDNT)?

MDNT is the insertion of fine filiform needles to deactivate trigger points (TrPs) in a muscle, alleviating pain and tension associated with an active TrP. It is one of many treatment options used by Remedial and Musculoskeletal practitioners to treat musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction.

What is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping Therapy can be regarded as the best deep tissue massage available.
Healing effects of cupping can include;
Relieving pain or tension within the muscle tissue, regulates the flow of chi and blood, activates lymphatic movement and reduces cellulite and water retention.
Cupping Therapy is implemented within a massage treatment when required or requested.
